This was a decent race. My start was great; I started off exactly where I wanted to end in the race, I wasn't too slow, or too fast. The first mile I made sure I was cresting the small hills, and making sure Simon didn't get too far away. The second mile I let Simon and Darren get away from me, when I feel like I could've stayed with them for longer, maybe even for the entire race. Going up the big hill was hard, but I made sure to speed up after it. I could've crested harder though. Going down the hill I definitely could have let it go more, and used the downhills more. Coming around to the last 800 meters, I still did not kick early enough, but it was better than McQuaid's nonexistant kick. I finished with a spot on the podium, but I was not completely satisfied.
What I learned: I need to crest harder on the hills, and kick harder at the end. Overall more speed work. I also need to be able to hunt down people ahead of me; once Simon and Darren got 50 meters away, it seemed impossible to catch up, so I kind of gave up. At least I got a shirt, because that is what really matters in racing.
