Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50s and Sunny

Comments:
Felt pretty good today. Got to the golf course, and then warmed up. So glad it was a nice day out, not like Marathon. The two minute tempo felt good. Spiked up, did drills, strides, and stretched, and I didn't feel super nervous before the race. I took some deep breaths, which seemed to help. The gun went off, and I made sure to start out faster, which is something that I hadn't been doing during other races and had made me slower. I wasn't able to avoid the first puddle, so my legs got covered in mud. Having that happen at the beginning can be helpful though because then I don't care about for the rest of the race. This Elmira kid then elbowed me and cut in front of me, which was annoying, especially because we weren't crowded so it wasn't like he needed to establish position. I cut back in front of him, but no elbows. Starting out fast did seem to give me less energy for the rest of the race, but I still pushed myself the whole time and don't feel like I settled. I seem to do better when I start out fast. Finished the race and noticed that I set a 5k PR by about 19 seconds, unless you count the Andris 5k. I'll check my speed rating later. I liked the course, it was my favorite of the year. Did the cooldown, and then handed in my uniform. My left ankle is also sore. I'll ice it. On another note, congrats to Scott on a great race. He's improved a lot.

In a few races this year, the results have said that I am a freshman. Not sure why.

JV and Varsity guys both got second...to Corning, which stinks. Corning won every Varsity and JV race.

I need to improve my speed this winter, which is my weakness right now. I still don't have regrets for today, though. A good season, and going to keep working.

Update: I got a 5k PR for a speed rating.
