Sanford Farms and then to 42 Walsh

November 26, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: mid 40s

Comments:
Jonny, Stephen, Tobi and I drove out to mid island (with Stephen irking a local driver by tailgating), and parked at the top of the trail. We ran together through the wet, and intensely reddish-orangish-brown foliage to the loop where Tobi turned back because he needed to limit mileage on first run back. Steve, JB and I continued on to the ocean and then back up the loop and trail. As Steve slowed up the hills, Jonny surged and I eventually announced my intent to run home and pulled away with an aggressive surge myself. Pushed that last mile pretty hard, dropping below 7:00 pace, I'm pretty sure. Hollered at Tobi in the parking lot as the daylight left the sky and turned down Madaket Road determined to keep the strong pace going. (The first 4-5 miles had been close to 8:00s probably.) Felt good and like I'd been holding back for most of the trails, and now that I was on the bike path asphalt, I felt great. Consciously pushed the pace, but stayed in control. Mile split approximation leads me to believe I was around 6:30 or faster coming back to town. Had fun navigating the main street sidewalks in the dark at that pace, and accelerated going through town as best I could. finished hard out Walsh Street with a 1:43 from Easton to mailbox. Sanford loop (with some looping back for Steve) had been 46:00 and the return trip from the farm was just under 18:00. Nice to have such a strong, beautiful run to close out a good vacation.
