Central Park with family

December 25, 2016 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Mild, 50ish?, great late afternoon and sundown

Comments:
Ran up to Central Park with JB, Steve and Tobi. 5:00 to get to Central Park West. Felt decently stiff and unmotivated early on. Loosened up with a lap of the very crowded Reservoir. (Lots of people out walking and enjoying the beautiful Christmas day.)Had to hold back a bit for JB and SB. Bailed off onto the outside bridle trail halfway round due to crowds. After one full lap Tobi and I stayed on the bridle path and followed it to its terminus at Central Park South while JB and SB did a second reservoir loop. We dropped the pace and I admit I felt pretty good, although never great. 400 meter splits along the East Side of the loop road were right around 1:40 and we "accidentally" missed the last turn-off and ended up following the loop road around the north end of the park and started down the West side. Knowing Tobi was supposed to limit it to 60 minutes, we bailed on to Central Park West near 105th and cut a zigzag from 96th over to Dad's. Felt really good to have a strong, long run and to be running the second half of it in the 6:40 range. Nice and tired afterwards, but not destroyed and was never truly straining, although I admit I was working and will call it a tempo run. Reassuring after all the crumby runs in CA.
