Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 59 Cloudy/Windy
Comments:
I had a rough day today before practice, which was entirely my fault, so my mental approach to this could have been better. I felt kind of nauseous during the warm-up and before the tempo started. Coach Lanese grouped me with Nick Hewitt and had us run 6 miles at 5:50 pace. Chris Kelly and Robert also came, so we turned around at the 2.5, planning to add the extra mile at the end. We were consistently fast the entire tempo and I think it was due to Nick being rather competitive. After five, Nick took off without saying anything and I quietly went with him, with the wind at our back for this part. At the half mile when we turned, I decided to prove a point and took the last 800 into the wind, passing him convincingly without a word.
On the 300s, Coach noticed my stride considerably shorten and is concerned about my legs, which were not much of a problem today despite the colder weather. I am now to the point where my cold is a minor annoyance in the workout as well. I would say that this was one of my better workouts this season. The time is only 5 seconds slower than I have ever run a six mile tempo and my heart rate was a relaxed 184 despite nearly sprinting into the finish.
