"Let it Flow"

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
First meet today at Sidwell. Ran the mile, which is what I wanted. I hate the sidwell track because it makes it feel so much longer, and I couldn't tell how far along I was unless I was at the end of a lap, so I couldn't motivate myself by saying "halfway done" or anything. I ran with Ellie for most of it which was nice. I know I should be happy with however I do because it's the first meet and I haven't been training much, but I'm really not, and then I'm doubly unhappy because I'm unhappy at myself that I'm unhappy about the race. I obviously was expecting to be much slower than last year, but my PR is 6:40 so I was aiming for under 7:15 which I thought was reasonable and ran 7:45. I know I'll improve this season, assuming my shins survive, but it's just frustrating to be set back so much and have to work back to where I was when I can't even work as hard as I want to. I try to stay out of this loop of outrage at my shins, but I just had an awful day today, so I'm not gonna fight it right now. On the upside, so I don't write a super depressing log, it was nice to spend some time chatting with Hailey on this gorgeous day when we weren't running and to see Julia, Gillian, and Abe!
