Had a meet today with Owego and Binghampton, Binghampton was the real threat points wise but we beat them pretty easily. Started with a warm up with Neil, then just a few drills and strides then hopped in the 4x8 aiming for mile pace. The race started out and I let the kid take it out knowing that he was going out a little quick. I was really just chilling it felt like a jog. Passed him with 250 left and just cruised in, I felt so relaxed and was breathing out of my nose pretty much. Ran 2:07 so not bad for mile pace. Cooled down, hung our legs then got ready for the next race the 2 miles. The goal was straight 80's. Started out in 80 and never looked back from there I didn't even have to think about pace I was just clicking off 80's, I didn't think I have a great mental clock but after that race I was pretty impressed with how I could pace the race. I just running my own race not even caring about the little kid ahead of me for the first 5 laps. Came through the mile in 5:20 so perfect then ran 3 more 80's. I finished with a 74 because some guys were kicking behind me, I felt pretty smooth throughout the entire race and it flew by. Finished with a good cooldown and cheered on Nick John as he killed it in the Pole Vault. Happy with our entire distance squad today.
