Dropped the car at the dealership for 100,000mile service and took a loaner over to the indoor tennis facility on Democracy at Cabin John Park. Ran south on the trail, expecting to turn at back at 15 minutes. ended up extending all the way to River Road (24:30) as I was pleased not to feel awful and had the time to enjoy the beautiful trail, which was made better by a patch of Mountain Laurel which was in full bloom right about the time I'd planned to turn. I was consciously trying not to jog too slowly, but I'm certainly not very fit these days. Either way, it was hard to know my pace, and being a trail I was probably averaging 8:00 or slower. The return trip was about a minute faster, but surely a lot of that was the slow first half mile when I'd set off. Nice to have a pretty , unrushed trail run on a little used, pretty trail. During the second half I was trying to give myself pep talks to get focused and use the next three weeks to get consistent 25 mile weeks in. I know enough, though, to know that I won't have much free time for running in these next three weeks as everything I've put off during spring track now has to get done.
