Oxford Classic Race Reflection

October 10, 2009 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: cold

Comments:
Goals:break 22, sprint at the end

What I did well: I tried doing the corners better, I moved up throughout the race, I tried to be more competitive with the people around me

What I didn't: I could have gone a lot harder on the third mile, and if I would have I would have broken 22! :( But I guess it's okay because I still PR'd by 23 seconds.

Mile 1: I was a little stressed being in the back of the pack, I didn't want last place. I felt awesome though and I was trying to pace myself so I didn't pull another Silverwood.

Mile 2: Started to move up, me and this red girl started our little passing battle. I still felt awesome and I was wondering when I would start to get to the part of the race where I hate running.

Mile 3: Still felt awesome. Conserved a lot more energy than I should have, but I still made myself go faster. I thought I was way ahead of the girl in red that I wanted to beat(I think her name was Emily) so I was content, but then that last little hill came (which is when I started to feel REALLY tired all of a sudden)and she blasted up the hill and passed me.

Last 100: So that was my motivation not to slow down, and that was my motivation to sprint at the end! It wasn't all exciting though because she wasn't next to me. So I didn't have some huge sprint. It was just like a stride at practice or something.

But I really loved this race! I decided that races with ducks are lucky races for me. Because I had so much fun at Gary Ward and so much fun at this race and they both had a little pond with ducks. Thanks coaches and team for the amazing trip!
