Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 90's down to 80's
Comments:
Was really excited for this run, but with the temps in the 100+ range this weekend, wanted to start as late as possible w/out having to use a headlamp. Got to the confluence at 6:15pm - still hot "AF" - those Canyons are just so baked - the oven stays hot all night!
Was pretty slow-going at first just with the body feeling so hot - was sweating a ton, but kept telling myself that once it hit 7pm and I was up by ALT, it would cool off significantly. Sure enough, after hitting Maine Bar and mostly hiking up Ball-Bearing (how in the world could anyone run up that thing? So washed out, unkempt, and rugged).
Man, once I hit ALT, it was like a light-switch turned on! I was SO PUMPED to run this section to BB. And sure enough, it was a pure cruise-fest, that is, until I ran into a BROWN BEAR! HAHA!
Came around the corner, 1/4mi out from BB, and spooked the crap out of the little guy. He bolted up the hill - crashing through the bushes - I chuckled. Good times.
Smooth descent down BB to LQ and just flew back to the parking lot. Easy effort, not laborious a bit, but was cruising in the 7min range. Felt great to cap off a LR that way!
