Worth waking up early for this

July 27, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 70ish? grey but very pleasant and so cool for July!

Comments:
After my watch alarm failing on Tuesday and my hotel alarm clock failing on Wednesday, I found success with a hotel wake-up call at 5:45 this morning. Took Germantown Road to Cransheim Drive and found lovely trails alongside the parkway down into the Wiss. Got caught heading south for longer than I should have, but the trails were pleasant. Eventually found a sign and reversed course to access the parking lot at Valley Greene and crossed there onto the main trail. I was fairly tired at this point from a pair of good sized hills I'd had to run. Ran up the trail to Bells Mill Road and took that uphill to Germantown and then was disheartened to see that there was still more hill to crest Germantown going southward back to the hotel. The hills were mostly hard in my mind, but my pace is already so slow, that the hills don't really do much other than make me grouchy. (Not sure what I'm trying to say either...) Pace along the main trail in a slight uphill direction was slowing from 7:50-8:00, and I probably wan't faster on the winding trails early on. The Wissahickon Park is amazing and every early morning runner and biker I passed was friendly and happy. Chestnut hill is unreal... in its history, beauty, wealth, and lush vegetation. I've not gotten much sleep this week, though, and every afternoon at the workshop I'm fighting sleep.
