Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Awoken during the night by Anna who was having bad dreams and then we woke up at 6:10 to bike for donuts after another late night on the email. Long of the short is that I continue to nap frequently each day and feel tired and pathetic on runs. I basically forced my daughters to bike with me for the first two miles of Dad's loop (adjusting out West Chester and Derrymore to avoid the hill on Cliff Road.) It was a nice distraction and Leah actually seemed to be at peace on the bike after Anna "let her have it" mid day for blaming everyone else for her biking stress. (Sorry for the digression, but seemed worth noting for my own records.) Girls turned off after Cobblestone hill descent. I added on through town and looped the mid island Stop and Shop before returning home. For the second consecutive run, the final stretch from Easton to mailbox was 2:09. Based on every split I could get, I'm probably still just around 8:00 or a smidge under once I warm up. Left foot (top of it) was bothering me by halfway. Probably tied too tight and the "clubfoot" running is taking a toll as I come down too hard on the ball of the foot, I suspect. Left knee was annoying and I just feel so stiff and heavy on all these runs. I did pause twice to stretch today and that helped a bit each time. When will the training finally make me feel fast and not just tired and sore and slow?! I know it will all feel better in a few weeks, but as happens every year, it is hard not to get frustrated and feel depressed. ...Same thing people on the team go through after a summer of focused training. Still, by Third Battle, we'll all be feeling great. I need to hang in there and keep getting in the runs. It is like this every single year.
