Back and forth and back and forth on the canal

August 25, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: beautiful, 60s, sun and shade, low humidity

Comments:
Final morning at camp. Warmed up along the canal to the boat ramp a quarter mile north of Manidokan. Didn't quite start with the shortest as I'd intended, so I had to double back and forth with each of the 8 groups or so along the first stretches of the towpath just south of camp. This made for very disjointed running with a pace that would oscillate from sub 8 to 9+ every few minutes, but I didn't mind and actually felt just fine shifting frequently. I eventually rounded the bend a mile and a half from camp but never got more than a half mile down that stretch towards lock 34. Ran much of the way back with Z and Lion. Final double back was to finish a few minutes with Marc and Jack R. I did run the to the first switchback on the hill trail back to camp for a "satisfying finish." Overall, I was very pleased with how manageable the run felt and the bus ride home form camp was uneventful. Picked up Leah B from Dulles in the evening.
