Since the signup for pacing the Princeton Half is coming up, I figured that I would give the newly redrawn course a go, and see what I've got in the tank. For what it's worth, I only decided to do this yesterday, and there's still like 2 months for me to get faster and better. So given that, this wasn't too shabby at all. I figure I can handle the 1:40 group no problem by then.
As for my feelings, I thought it was kinda weird. First off, it's a damn hilly course, with something like 500 ft of elevation gain, and lots of rollers in the back half. But even with that, my heart rate was just really high today. Like 10 bpm higher than it usually has been for my long runs these last few months. Even though the effort was about the same (relaxed). Maybe I've got a touch of a cold brewing, I know I've felt a odd this last day or tow. Ah well. I'll take it. Take the next few days real easy, and get ready for the Helene Cody race next week!
Clearly I'm bad at planning.
