Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
CNS & Metabolism was "on fleek" last night, so I was "wired" and up later than I would have liked ... Which didn't feel so great opening this morning and running the shift on "Double-Star Bonus Day" for rewards members.
However, I was able to snooze for an hour+ while Stella was napping and Sadie was having her "quiet time". Nonetheless, woke up needing some more Z's.
Pretty relaxed day, though, overall. Post-nap, drove back to my StarbZ to crown the "Partner of the Quarter" for this past quarter (July - Sept). Pretty cool that it was Alan, a WJU runner who I coached the past few years.
Interesting story about Alan .... Comes in his freshmen year with "JV" PRS of 10:40 in the 2mi and 4:55 in the Mile ... Struggles his freshman year with injuries, severe introversion, and lack of confidence (ran 32min for the 8k off of like no training due to injuries). Fast-forward to last season, he comes into his Sophomore year with these rock-hard abs, lazer-focus, and an unwavering sense of self-discipline and commitment. He not only runs 27:15 for the 8k (almost finishing as our #2 runner and beating out guys "faster than him"), but ends up winning "Team MVP". Truly a "zero to hero" story. So proud of him. Even though I don't technically coach him anymore, at StarbZ, I've really been coaching him on stepping up in communication since he is so quiet and will definitely be a team captain either this Spring or his SR. year next year.
So, yeah, cool to see Alan win POQ. Well-deserving and a joy to have at the store.
Oh yeah, running?
With everything in mind from the day, just took it "chillax" and decided to hike to balance out yesterday and today. Was nice. I watched youtube clips of Bill Belichek "Do Your Job" film and Tom Brady's "Zero to Hero" story from U of Michigan to GOAT (see: Greg Harden).
