Oberlin Race

October 17, 2009 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
All in all I guess the race was okay. I feel like in the middle stages I got out of ir mentaly again which is a bad thing. That didn't happen at All Ohio and thats probably why this race was slightly worse than that one. But it was only for a few moments and then I was able to re focus and get back into the race. I definitly didn't eat enough before the race. My stomach was growling and I was definitly hungry standing on the line. I can get away with this in say a mile or even a 5k but this doesn't work for 8k's gotta be feeling not full but definitly no growling at the line. The course was very muddy but I still got a big PR. I'd have liked to have broken 27 minnutes but oh well I guess it wasn't ment to be today. I think I should have gone out a bit faster and tried to get into a faster rhythm early and this would have helped me pull through the rest of the race. Shouldn't have had any miles over 5:30. Only one was but that was a bad one. Thats where I lost mental focus for a bit. I should have been able to keep 5:20 pace for the whole way. Oh well. We'll see how it goes if I'm running confrence. I guess I'll find out in the next couple days. Shout out to Onko for a great open race and to Cromer who came out of nowhere to step up big. Good job guys. Thanks too to Link who pulled me through lots of the race even though he fell early.
