Cheering on the kiddos at ISLs/MACs

October 28, 2017 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
One of my most successful cheering efforts of all time - saw every runner a minimum of 4 times, many of them 5 or 6. Some serious hills and sprints, but I kept my momentum up through the last race. I really love cheering at Derwood - its probably the DC area course I know best, despite having never race it myself, and each year I'm quick to relearn the various cut-throughs that will allow me to get to key spots on the course where there are unlikely to be many fans adding to the noise. Anthony, Eva, Ethan and I all seemed to converge on the same stretch of course right before the big downhill in the third mile, each popping out of the woods at the different spot (Abigail, Ellie, Nathaniel, and a couple others did as well in the last couple races). It wasn't our best day as a team results-wise, but there were many PRs and for many of those who were disappointed in their times, the problem was going out too fast and fading, not lack of effort. So glad I could be at least a small part of it.
