Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Met up w/ Jernst for our second run of the fall for which we drove out the Minuteman Trail in Arlington in order to catch leaves. It was a typical Julia and Matt run featuring light casual conversation about racial injustice, class, gender, identity politics, science, the GDS experience, Anthony, the team, and what Julia should do with her life after she graduates. As usual, I totally lost track of how long we’d been running or where we were supposed to turn off the trail for the car, and at one point after discovering a cool side trail we almost got turned around. We romped through Arlington’s Great Meadow along a plank boardwalk and paused at the minuteman statue on the Lexington Battle Green where the "shot heard round the world" was fired. The fall leaves were beautiful, although neither of us succeeded in catching any (despite one that both she and I both fumbled in turn). We probably held to an 8-minute pace or faster, but I'm not really sure. Let's just say that if anyone was slowing down for the other person's sake, it was her.
I'm in Providence for a conference Friday and Saturday, so I think I'll take tomorrow off. Need to rest up for Sunday's New England XC club championships.
