Near-Carjack and a Comeback

December 8, 2017 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 20s to 30s

Comments:
Well this week was a wash for running unfortunately. I got so busy with school work that I slacked off on the mileage build. I ended up putting all of the energy I wanted to put in for running into school, which I think will be worth it because I have a chance to 4.0 my first semester.

Anyways, besides that I got a crazy log story (BJ already knows this one, but fuck it). Thursday night, I got three calls in a row from Emily and Carlyn at 1:30am while I was sleeping. I initially tried to ignore it, because I had a super important 9am exam the next morning but I ended up answering it. They needed a ride from Sparrow after their friend drank too much and had to go the hopsital. So I ended up driving over there super late at night. Liz offered to come with me, but I told her not to... which definitely ended up being for the best.

I pull into the hospital and a dude comes running up to my car. Now, I'm not familiar with city life, so being the idiot I am, I halfway opened my passenger window. The dialog between me and the dude is as follows.

Dude: "Hey man, I need you to take me to the south side".

Me: "No sorry, I have to pick up my friends from the hospital"

*** Pause

Dude: "Get out of the car"

Me: "... What"

Dude: Get out of the fucking car".

So he grabs onto my passenger window, and I immediately go into fight or flight mode. I put on the gas pedal and speed the fuck out of there. My car manage to slightly knick the hospital wall on my way, so I scratched my car RIP. But yeah I knocked the dude off of his feet I think and ended up driving around the hotel in panic mode. I still ended up picking up Carlyn and Emily in the same spot and the dude was long gone, but definitely one of the scariest moments of my life. I will never go back to Lansing at night again. Also thank god, Liz wasn't with me or that could've been much worse. Or if Emily and Carlyn walked out of the hospital during that. Someone could've been hurt or I could've got my car stolen. Pretty fucking crazy. But despite getting only 2 hours of sleep from pure adrenaline, I managed to pull off a 100% on my final and barely get my horrible group project turned in on time. So that was at least good.

Ok sorry for the long story. As for the run, this run felt like straight ass. I ate at the potluck not long beforehand, so my stomach did not hold up well. I also forgot to press go on my RunKeeper App RIPPPPPPP. So the pace and time are complete estimates. I ran a 6 miles on the campus loop, and it was also really cold af. But despite not feeling greet, it was great to get back into the grind. This week, as I said, is now a wash but I'll come back next week even stronger. My Finals week is not too bad at all.

Also shoutout to BJ, who I saw entering Ricks. You're an animal.
