December 15, 2017 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: 28 and dusting of snow on the track
Comments:
ON a very spur of the moment decision, I threw on running clothes and drove myself to the AU track where I know Ana Sosa-Ebert was running a workout on the slick, snow covered track, although the flakes were stopping. She had just finished her first 300m and I jumped in with no warm up other than the 300 meter jog from the car. She was 6 seconds ahead. On the next few, I started out ahead and eased up a bit for her in the final 100. As I warmed up and she fatigued we were closer in pace and ran the last two side by side. I did a total of 5 and she ran 6. My times were: 65.6, 61.6,62.2, 60.0, 60.9. I had no desire to go any faster, but I was not really going all out, I realize looking back on it. No proper warm up, sweats on, icy track, not having planned on the workout, etc... I had plenty of excuses not put myself out there. Still, I sprint so rarely, that I certainly felt like I was at top speed. Cooldowns were always 2 minutes and that was all I did after the last one too. Had a good chat with Ana afterwards and drove her home.
