A different golf course. The same moon.

January 1, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 21 and moon rising on a clear night

Comments:
Another absolutely beautiful and memorable run. Ended up going alone, and that was fine as no one in their right mind would run so many wooded trails of Rock Creek in the dark in shorts when it is 21 degrees... but they should. I dropped Leah at a party on Mckinley and decided I should drive on to Rock Creek to run. Saw the tip of the enormous moon rising as I came over Nebraska Ave Ridge past Utah Ave. Parked on Northhampton near the 3rd largest tree in DC and ran into the park a few minutes after 5:00 as the sun had just set, but the sky still glowed. Headed past the mounted police stables, down the trail and over the bridge near Bingham (SP?). Went north on Valley trail to Whittier trail to 16th to Tuckerman, onto the golf course where the Eastern sky still glowed and the west held a stunning full moon. Looped and zig zagged through the RC Golf Course for some time and then dropped down the road to Military and came up the paved bike path to St. Johns and the car. Added on a few slow minutes of cooldown as I couldn't bear to see the beautiful, cold, winter run come to an end. Had a splendid time. It is hard to guage speed in the cold and dark and on trails, but once I got going, I suspect I averaged 7:30 or a little over, still, I'm never sure anymore. I'd like to stay focused and get a month or more of about 40 mile weeks, if I can.
