i've got to say that i was in a really bad mood after that race. i got a pr and i really worked hard but i just didnt feel like it was good enough. i was upset that i didnt push myself a little harder and beat molly. i was upset that i didnt whip out my sprinting skills that ive worked so hard for the past 3 track seasons. i was just really upset about the whole thing and the positive parts of the race werent even in the back of my mind. then i got onto running log today & i read everyone elses logs and realized what a cry baby i was being. after reading molly's, then i remembered, "oh yeah, that race was SO fun!"
i definately worked harder at this race than i have at any other. i LOVED running with all 5 of us girls during the first mile & i was so proud of us sticking together and surging together! that was awesome!!!! i cant believe it when i think of it now, but im pretty sure i had the biggest, goofiest grin on my face for the majority of the race! haha
that morning, i was playing the frank sinatra cd in my car that ashley gave me and the last song that played before i got out was "new york, new york", so for the first mile or so, i kept singing in my head "its up to you, new york, NEWWW YORRRRRKKK!" and that is really not inspiring running music at all but i thought it was funny that i was thinking that. haha

when i finally got that song out of my head, i just kept replaying the bible verses that kara and savannah had written on that index card for me and cody: "i can do everything by the power of Christ. He gives me strength." philippians 4:13. (thanks so much kara, btw :D) and the one Savannah wrote on cody's: "but those who trust in the Lord will receive new strength. they will fly as high as eagles. THEY WILL RUN AND NOT GET TIRED. they will walk and not grow weak." Isaiah 40:31. (thanks savannah)
i just thought those were the coolest verses ever and it was so perfect because when i felt like i was getting tired i would just think "i will run and not get tired" and it seriously helped SSSOOOO much!

im so thankful for molly too! holy moly if i got one step behind her, shed say "come on rachael!" and that was so nice to have her yelling for me, and to have meghan yelling for me too. it was just so helpful.

i keep forgetting how FUN the race was. and i was so happy to be there. and i reached my time goal and worked really hard and got a 20 second pr. i just wish i couldve kept with meghan when she took off or pushed past molly at the end. but oh well. the positives outweigh the negatives i suppose.

oh man im going to miss our team so much. i love everyone and xc is such an amazing sport & im happy at how close we all are. it was never like this in basketball, volleyball, or track. im really going to miss all of the seniors :(. youre all so amazing and have helped out so much with my running you have no idea. you guys are just inspirational (wow i sound corny, but its true! haha). and i cant picture the team without you! <3

coaches: i have never had such amazing coaches as you three. you are some of the most important people in my life and if it werent for you guys, i wouldnt have improved as much as i have this season. rusty, you are always concerrned with how im doing and you always are making sure everythings ok, and thanks for that! i love the speeches you give at the meetings and at camp. everything you say really pumps me up to be a better, healthier runner, and the things you say actually keep me interested in xc, and have A LOT of fun with it.
brice, you are such a happy person all the time, and thats so nice to have such a positive person like you as a coach. (i guess thats why you're the one that came up with ppt)you alson remind me how much fun running can be. haha i still remember you as dumbledore with the beard at running camp and your wide variety of accents. hahaha. and i think its hilarious that you told the whole team that you were laying in bed thinking how cool kelsey was. BAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
liz, if it werent for you, everything would be so unorganized. thank you for keeping everything rolling and always keeping our times and having our bibs ready for us. thank you :)
