Ay so I guess my body is alright. After being super sick a week ago and not feeling 100% until just a couple of days ago, I drove up to SVSU and threw down a 15:55.92. Last year I ran 15:47.90 at this meet. Last year it was smaller and one heat so I always had people around me that were running faster that I could try and catch and push myself. But tonight was a little different. I won by like 6 seconds.
About a month ago, I ran a 16:23 5k in San Diego. I would've been pumped to throw down a PR tonight had I not been sick last week. Anyway here's how this race went:
I go out with the front pack, sitting in 4th place for the first mile. We came in something like 5:04 at 1600m which was great. Then for the second mile the pace slowed slightly (5:09 by my calculations) and I deadass told the guys in front of me to go faster. That didn't really happen so after a slower second mile I took the lead for the last mile. I closed pretty well and it felt too easy. Didn't really push myself all too hard. If we went harder on the second mile I think I would have been really close to what I ran last year tbh. 300m splits:

I ended up being the only guy to break 16:00 ffs. I'll revisit this at GVSU Big Meet on Feb 10. Club indoor 5k record is going down FOH wolverine Justin Waraniak. I said that 2018 would be the year to esketit so imma esketit. Oh and shout out Austin Langlinais and Tyler Cook on their PR's; great men. They completely shat on Miros the (weak minded) Traitor who didn't even break 17:00 GIT GUD. Also shoutout to Erik Van Laeke who ran a 17:21 but didn't even show up to the race. #Spoooooky
For the cooldown I suggested that we go down some of the unlit roads in the dark. Turns out that is indeed as bad an idea as you would expect it to be and we almost got hit by a guy pulling out of a driveway.
