January 27, 2018 (Afternoon)
Exercise Type: Run
Weather: upper 50s and pleasantly mild
Comments:
I'd thought about a track workout today, but didn't leave enough time for that. Nearly scrapped the run altogether as I'd promised to make dinner, but after a little prep work, Lew convinced me I should just go run. I guess after living together for 22 years, she knew I needed it. I decided to try the loop I'd "invented" last January which takes me out to Wisconsin via the trail and up to Bradley, over to Con and home via Livingston. I'd hoped to feel good and get a tempo pace going, but early on I decided to just run how I felt, which was fine, but not very fine. Of course, by the time I turned onto Wisc (5:45), I was loosening up somewhat. I moved pretty well up to Bethesda, but the slanted earth made me doubt myself a bit. (10:26 at corner of Wisc and Bradley) Along Bradley, I must have built my pace (15:08 turning onto Conn which is a little after the 2 mile mark, I think), and down Conn, I was flowing well. Probably 6:30 or well under that. Made a conscious effort to push after the circle, but never really strained. Last stretch from Starbucks to 3944 was 1:43, which bodes well. I figure that stretch is usually 2:00 on a good day (Maybe 7:00 pace), so maybe I was at 6:00 pace or quicker today. Pleased with the tempo run and jogged a quick cooldown around the alley block, Never felt very taxed. Nice to know I've got a tempo gear. Time for the loop was 22:59, so I'm allowing myself to round up to 2:30 since I jogged the cooldown and wanted to know my average pace (despite the first mile being warm-up. http://www.mapmyrun.com/routes/view/1402657927
