The Indispensable Running Logs: An MSU RC Treasury

March 3, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Swim

Comments:
I made a google doc to document the best logs from June 2017 to May 2018: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Cj7phIjmDNA5yfjOZcnzV6yuT6-rGZT8szmz0uT6XUA/edit?usp=sharing

Still in the early stages of course but there's something there at least. I am definitely going to be biased and be putting a lot of my own logs in there so if there's some that you think are shit lmk.

Ok now on to my swim today... TLDR; I fucking killed it.
Long form:

SPRING BREAK BOD HAS ARRIVED. Girls are going to be ON my biceps in PCB. Exactly one year ago today, I did the standard 6x500 on the 8:00 workout. It was really good so I made a Facebook post about it saying the following:

"Did a set of 6x500 in the pool today. And on the last one I tied my PR in the 500 free that I set at a meet my senior year of high school.

This is of course after being out at the bars for nearly 12 hours yesterday (yay Spring Break!), getting 3.5 hours of actual sleep, having a slightly injured ankle, a slightly ripped swim cap, and a good batch of Rice Kitchen in my body.

#LostInTheSauce"

Looking back on my training log, my splits were the following: 6:53, 6:47, 6:42, 6:36, 6:30, 6:07 for an avg. of 6:35.8 last year. Yes, my fastest time in high school, in a meet, rested, and off the blocks was 6:07.

Today, I had to be better than I was last year, so I did the same workout. These were my splits through the first 5: 6:36, 6:37, 6:34, 6:34, 6:34.

Then I knew I was going to go Full Send Balls To The Wall Lick DEEZ NUTS on the last one. My goal was to break 6:00. I came through the 250 at about 2:59, right on pace. Then the thoughts came in to my head:

"Sometimes you gotta ask yourself how good you want to be"
"Go hard or suffer the rest of your life"
"I had to grind like that so I could shine like this"
"Just Send It"

And so I let it all in the water and finished the rep in a 5:58. LFGOOOOOOO. I am on cloud 9 rn. Only thing that can be bring me down now is if MSU loses to UM today. FUCK. THOSE. WOLVERINES.

My average for the workout was thus a 6:28. Very good but actually not my best workout ever. Later on April 13th last year I averaged 6:19 and hit 6:01 on the last interval.

Last year at this time I was at 36.82 miles of swimming and 316.60 miles of running on the year. This year I am at 32.07 miles of swimming and 432.97 miles of running.

I'm feeling good and livin better boys. Excellent prelude to spring break.
