Today's workout was 4x 4 minutes at 3K-5K pace with a 3 minute jog. I ran the workout on the historic New Buffalo track. It was super windy and a bit chilly outside, so I ran with layer. But those layers slowly came off each rep, because NOT CHARMIN ULTRA SOFT!
My goal for the workout was to run close to 5 minute pace. For the first two reps, I was a bit off of that pace, but I was still feeling really good. So, I sent it hard on the last 2. My 1200s were 3:50, 3:52, 3:46, 3:44. I pushed it really hard on the last one to hit 1300m and managed to get it right on the 4 minute mark. Definitely a great workout and probably one of my better long distance workout.
Anyways, did any of you guys watch the 1500m indoor World Championship (mostly @Austin)? They came through the first lap in 75! WTF KYS?! That is 5 minute mile pace, which was basically the pace I was hitting today. They came through the 800m in 2:24, which means I could've been 10 seconds or more ahead if I was running my own race. Granted I would've got absolutely obliterated in the last 400m, but they only ran won in 3:58, so who knows how much I would've got dicked on lol? So because of this race, I have a goal to beat the winning time of 3:58 by at least my senior year. If I can run a 3:58 1500m, I can basically be a world indoor 1500m champion. FUCK THE PROFESSIONAL RUNNING SYSTEM AND #FREECHELIMO (even though Indoor Worlds are definitely gone).
Also I forgot to mention that Liz has officially joined the log. Gottttta give a warm welcome! She wanted to log those miles, so WOW the log keeps growing more and more (but fuck @JackAman for only logging once and then Christian Baling). I will end on this final note... we didn't brush our teeth for the first time today, until after the workout..... Spring Break gets pretty lazy and degenerate when you're chilling at home.
