The title says it all, because this was definitely the hardest workout of the year. 600m at 800m pace, 10 min standing rest, 2x400 at 800m pace with 5 minute standing rest, and 2x200 at 800m pace with 30 second rest. Jack Daniels (well actually Lucas) really put us to the test today, but I came out triumphant with one of my best workouts of the year. Did I end it with a throbbing headache due to oxygen debt? Hell yeah! Did I vomit twice? Oh Hell yeah! But it's all apart of Jack Daniel's pain train and boy did I take a ride to hell and back.
We did the workout at ELHS in colder temps than we originally wanted. We were supposed to do it at Jenison, but looks like some stupid MHSAA children's basketball tournament was going on, so our time at Jenison has come to end RIP. I wasn't looking forward to doing this workout outside, standing around in the cold, but gotta send it.
So the first interval went out decently well. I PRed in 600 my a few milliseconds lol. Definitely felt tough, but the 10 minute rest helped out a lot. The first 400 was surprisingly really fast, and things didn't start to really hurt until the 2nd 400. I really tried to push Paolo on the 2nd 400 to keep myself motivated and I managed to still stay right on pace. After that, I just had to stay alive for the 200s and I managed to stay on pace for everything..... but boy did I feel horrible.
I ended up vomiting twice, my head hurt really bad, and I had to really hobble back to Gunson, but damn I'm proud of this workout! I think this shows that I'm in really good shape and ready to drop some great times this outdoor season. Jack Daniels really put me to the test, but I can say that i aced this one. Austin also did really well.... until the last 10 meters of his 200 when he stopped at the triangle SMH. Always gotta finish my dude!
Great day today and ready to full send at the Intrasquad meet. Also the last 2 miles were from running with Lucas back to the track to get my sweatpants. It is still #MileageMarch ya know!
