In memory of MLK

April 5, 2018 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Ran w/ John Biersteker and Jenn Esch out over the BU bridge and down Storrow Drive back to Mass Ave. Made a quick detour in order to show them the memorial sculpture and plaque in front of Boston University Divinity School where "Rev. King" became "Dr. King." King studied the teachings of Gandhi here, among other things, earning his Ph.D. in theology in 1955, a few months before moving to Montgomery Alabama and launching the bus boycott, the start of his civil rights career. King was assassinated 50 years ago yesterday.

Wish I could have stopped long enough to read all the quotes, but the wind was super cold and I had to get home for a skype call with a conflict research organization in Bosnia at 8 o'clock. Really fun running with John and Jenn as always. We must have been going a 9 minute pace, but after feeling so sore yesterday it was exactly what I needed. Coming back along the Mass Ave bridge the wind was really intense and we jokingly tried to hide behind John who is taller than us but too thin to actually serve as a useful windbreak. We amused ourselves by engaging in some amateur hydrology/meteorology, trying to explain why the wind feels faster and colder over a river and if it's any different from how it would feel next to a pond or an open field.
