Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Last run with Julia before she graduates, so I had to make it something special. We drove out to the historic Battle Road where the minutemen harried the redcoats on their way back from Concord to Lexington. Warm and sunny, beautiful as always. We kept a brisk clip which felt like almost a tempo to me but turned out to be around 7:40. I suspect the terrain had something to do with it. As always, we talked about everything under the sun, but this run, in particular, had a nostalgic tone. I found myself looking back on the 8 years I've known Julia, the 4 years we've met up for runs here in Boston, the ways it's become a weekly ritual and true friendship over the past 8 months. So happy she'll be going out into the world to do amazing things (working with amputees in Colombia on a Fulbright, for starters) but I'll miss our runs every week. We talked a bunch about memory, about high school, and about adjusting to life after college. I can't remember what else we talked about except to say that that as usual with us two extroverts there was never a gap in the conversation. Can't wait for whatever comes next!
