Second time I got lost in a DC suburb...

May 27, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: hot, near 90? humid

Comments:
Jack Rudnick came over and we headed out for a run of indeterminate length. I forgot that I'm not in very good shape and set of for Rock Creek Via McKinley. WE went right on the trail and dropped down past the fort and eventually on the the valley trail up to Candy Cane Park where I was devastated to learn they'd removed the water fountain! Trudged up one of those hills and went right at the top. Very overheated and thirsty, I lead us on what turned out to be a full 1200 meter loop through the badminton park and surrounding neighborhoods. Instead of coming out where I expected on Brookville, Rd, we came right back across the top of the ridge in the same direction we'd been going 7 minutes earlier?! I'd gotten us completely turned around and not even know we'd completed a circle until I began eyeing the same house under construction where I'd hoped for water 7 minutes before?!!! Not since the famous Ehrenhaft run 22 years ago had I been so confused! After moments of incredulity and apology, I led us out to Western instead of Brookville and we slogged home (with some water begged off of a local homeowner). I may never live this one down with Jack. I was good and tired by the end, although the water during and Gatorade after helped me quite a bit.
