I'm Starting to Hate Arbys

Another day, another dollar. This log is going to be about my work day, so be warned. I woke up at 7:40am for my last week of construction. I got to work at 9am and no one was there. My boss texted me and told that they'd be half an hour late.

Two hours later.....

Eventually after sitting in my car for 2 hours, everyone showed up. But even when everyone showed up, I didn't have much to do. They told me to go flag on the road, but we didn't even need to block off a lane of traffic, because NONE OF THE EQUIPMENT OR WORKERS WERE STICKING OUT IN THE STREET. So ultimately, I've come to the conclusion that my position as flag person is actually useless. I'm probably still only here out of pity, since I told them I want to work for 3 weeks.

After coming to terms with my existential dread of my flag existence, I was told to go pick up lunch for everyone. So where does everyone want to go for the 8th day in a row since I've been working... FUCKING ARBYS! These guys fucking eat the same Arby's meal for lunch every day. I mean Arby's solid, but these construction guys are getting massive hard-ons for roast beef sandwiches and curly fries. Man, I'm just getting tired of Arbys!

Later on in the day, I guess I mattered a little bit. I had to help get 500 ft of tubing in the ground. The tubing is pretty fucking huge/heavy and we usually unwind it from a chain hanging on a bulldozers. But today, the tubing got all fucked up (because it was rolled wrong I'm pretty sure) and we spent an hour unwinding it. Damn, that was a work out. Pulling and pushing 500 feet of tube out a spiral is a lot harder than it looks. I thought i was doing a solid job, despite the hard work, but Old Mel still told me "C'mon boy, don't be a big old bitch and pull harder!". It's my weak gangly arms, but I was trying hard.

To end the day, I shoveled in 3, 6-ft deep holes. Definitely nothing extremely difficult, but a long 8 hour day filled with being either completely useless or completely hating life. There is no in-between.

Surprisingly, I still found some energy to run 4.2 miles in Grand Beach. I was suffering with dehydration cramps and lack of being in shape the entire way through, but I fought through it all. I definitely didn't feel great on the run for that reason, but ya know I gotta grind man. Overall, happy today is over and congrats on day 1 of the new job @BJ. Get that bag!
