Today was the first official day of my internship in Troy, Michigan. So I'll give a quick recap of my day and my run.

So, I'm living in Mackenzie Ginste's parents basement for the summer, so I'll up around 10:00pm last night from New Buffalo. Long ass 3 hour drive, but I finally got you the $10 Hardees gift card that my grandpa gave me in November, so that was lit. I just can't ever find a Hardees. I got to the GInste household, and they helped me move my stuff down to the basement. Super nice people, glad to be living in their basement this summer. The basement is dope af and I get to share it with their litter trained dog. That's right, a litter trained dog and I are sharing the basement for a summer. Honestly, 2018 is such a time to be alive.

The next day I woke up at 7:15am and went to my internship. For my internship, I'm an employee benefits sales intern at an insurance company called the Standard. And from the moment I walked in, there was one thing I for sure.... this was going to be way better than doing than holding up a flag for 6+ hours. Though we didn't do a ton on the first day, since our main sales manager was traveling, I had a great time getting to know the people in the office. I didn't even know that the company was giving me a computer with dual screens and a laptop, but I guess that was a thing, so I got that set up. One of the other guys in the office bought us some Penn Station for lunch, so that was solid ("Chicken parm you taste soooooo goooood" - Peyton Manning). I got to sit in on a conference call, learn the business war dog ropes from King Scannel (apparently he's a young, thriving wardog who's raking in millions of bucks for this insurance company), and then read some sample sales contracts to help understand the product better. Not a ton, but definitely a good first day of work.

After going to the bank and going grocery shopping, I went out to some trails that Mackenzie's mom recommended. I ran over 7.5 miles down Paint Creek Trail (@Tyler @Garmin @Brett @BrokenAnkles boizzzzz gotta hit me up for some runs) and then a little bit into Dinosaur Hill Trail. I had a blast with this run! I love running in new places and the fact that there's a 40 mile dirt-paved trail with some wooded trails off to the side is paradise for me. I felt pretty good on this run too, I think the left foot is feeling better (that's why I missed running for 2 days for those of you who didn't read my Friday log.

After the run, I ate dinner with Mackenzie's parents and they were telling me how they need to motivate Mackenzie's 17 year old brother to run more. Apparently he just plays a lot of Fortnight and has gotten lazier since hitting pubery. So I'm probably gonna drag him on a few future runs and see if he can hang. But overall great first day, hope it continues going well!
