Life in Mackenzie's Parent's Basement: Day 2

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 80s humid

Comments:
Here we are at Day 2 of Rochester Hills and it was definitely another really interesting one. Today was the first day I got to work with my boss, Mark B. (he was out of town on a business trip in Rochester, New York. Now I've met Mark before, but I'll talk a little about him. He kind of looks like a big boss you'd fight at the end of any video game. He's a huge dude, probably like 6'5' and a lot of muscle. Bald head, intimidating look, dope goatee, but super nice and extremely chill guy. So chill, nothing could phase this guy. He actually used to be a offensive/defensive lineman for University of Michigan back in the day. After the internship asked him, Mark casually dropped that he used to play and live with Tom Brady back in the day.

"Yeah, Tom was just another California quarterback who came to Michigan. He was an ok guy, he lived in my house during senior year" said Mark, super nonchalantly.

"Fucking goat...." I thought to myself.

He also took me and the other intern out to this dope Mediterranean restaurant in Troy. Mannnnnn that was good. I spent the rest of the day with the task of interviewing/getting to know everyone in the office. I'm liking everyone so far, so once again I think this going to be a good summer. The internship program is pretty intense too, we're apparently quizzed on modules twice a week and our quiz scores are posted for every intern across the country to see every week. This could either go really good or really bad, but also I found out that they're flying all of the interns out to Portland in August for an intern competition/final evaluation. So first time on the west coast SKKRRRRRRR! Only problem is that I now will probably miss a day of running club summer camp, since there's some overlap, but I'll still be there.

After that, I went home, ran, and then ate with the Ginstes. I got a good chance to know the brothers a bit more, and they're pretty funny. They were roasting me for failing the IHOP challenge (IHOB challenge now? IDK) and the mom is now forcing the older brother to go running with me a few times per week. The older brother is definitely out of shape, but pretty confident he can beat me in a 5K with a 2.5 minute head start, so I'll let you guys know if I end up doing that lmao. But definitely enjoyed hanging with them, 10/10 great family.

Oh yeah and I did run. Sorry for the long log lol, but I ran 6.1 down Paint Creek Trail towards Lake Orion. The run was pretty humid, but I felt very relaxed. For some reason, i can't quite break the slower pace. I used to always easily run sub 7, but 7:10 is about as fast as I can go. It's not a bad thing, it's definitely better to go slower anyways (Paolo pace, sorry Paolo but its a thing), but yeah really struggling to hit sub 7 miles. Who knows maybe I won't. I guess we will see.
