Welcome to the Danger Zone

June 27, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
No, I wasn't running in South Haven today. And no, I did not have a lady flash a gun at me and ask me to come with her for cookies and lemonade.

No, today I ran in the farms south of Madison. And today was also the last time I ever do that again. I feared for my life on this run, just begging for it to be over. You would THINK, that these random roads that split large crop fields would not be heavy with traffic, but that was far from true. I feared for my life on these roads. A good 4.7 miles of this route were on shoulder-less, shittily paved roads with cars zooming by at literally 50 mph with no regard for human life. I SHIT YOU NOT, I was THIS close to witnessing a head on collision from a car that swerved out of my way and nearly hit another car going the other way. Why not just run in the dirt/grass on the side of the road you say? Well, although that would be safer, the footing was terrible (mostly gravel n shit) and not flat. I still did have to dip off the road at times for when cars were going both ways at the same time though.

So instead, I dodged traffic by frequently switching sides of the road depending on which side had fewer cars coming. Fucking terrifying. And being out in the farms, you really don't have any choice but to keep following the road until you get back.

So in conclusion, fuck country roads that don't have shoulders. Just happy that I wasn't a biker. Speaking of bikers, that recent twitter video had me howling in tears lmfao.

Oh, but at the beginning of the run I did get heckled by some kid out the window of a car criticizing me for not wearing any clothes.
