Don't Quit

June 28, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: Mid 80s and humid

Comments:
Yesterday was a fairly shitty day. I failed the second product quiz at work and ranked last among the interns. That was a pretty big blow and a pretty rough reality check for myself. Then I thought I could get a good, tough 8 mile run in, but my mind went soft and I hopped off the treadmill at 4 miles. I needed to hit 7-8 to stay on track to get 50 miles for the week and I fell behind. Just not a good day for myself.

But luckily today was a new day. I realize that to pass my next quiz on Monday, I need to grind harder than I have been and get to the next level. I never studied on the weekend and dug deeper than the basics and the definitions. I'm not coming in last place again, so the comeback started today with this run.

This run wasn't anything special, but it's mid 80s and 60% humidity outside. Usually I can't stand that kind of heat and don't bother going outside. But grinding harder than before doesn't just apply to my quizzes, it applies to running. So i forced myself to go on an 8 mile loop at 6pm from the Ginstes house to Rochester High School to Squirrel Road and back to the house. Once you make yourself do a loop, you can't just turn around, you gotta do the whole thing. And even though it was tough out there and i wanted to stop, I didn't stop once on this run.

I know this log is basically becoming something @RyanWhinnery would write (Alway going for my title shot), but this was just one of those runs that got me feeling that one way man. I was feeling dehydration cramps and I suffered a lot in the last few miles. I had to slow down from consistent 7:00s to a 7:50 mile, because I felt like I was gonna puke, but ultimately I pushed through. These are the character building runs SKKKRKRRR!! The road to success has been rocky this week, but we're pulling through.

Also might be doubling an easy 3 or 4 tonight. I need to double today or tomorrow morning..... so stay tuned.
