My Triumphant Return to the Track

July 27, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Saw people on this log have been heading out to the track recently, so I thought I would follow suit. The closest track to me is Verona High School about 2.6 miles away, and at first I thought about driving over, but then I remember that I am doing a marathon in 5 weeks so I ran instead.

Verona HS is a decent track. Not quite the luxury that I had last summer with the mondo track at North Newton High School but it got the job done. No football practice or girls youth soccer game going on either like last summer, but there were a few people racing some RC cars on the track which was funny. Eventually a security guy came and told them they couldn't do that there for whatever the reason lol. But the security guy didn't care about me running which was good.

I did 5x1600m tempo/threshold with 1:00 rest. Yeah, could've added the extra 9 meters but I wanted to stay consistent with how I was doing this workout this past winter/spring. At the office today my legs were feeling fairly tired, and on the warmup I felt like garbage. And then even after the first rep I felt bad. But I kept trucking along in hopes that my legs would fall into rhythm like they usually do for this workout. And they did. My splits:

5:25.4
5:25.3
5:22.3
5:21.7
5:20.0

avg. 5:22.9

So I am super happy with this workout. Looked back in my training log and on March 14 (what's up Drizzy) I did 6x1600m also averaging 5:22.9.
