Disclaimer: Hey boys/some girls, sorry I haven't been appearing in the log for a bit. I was dealing with a bit of a knee injury, and it was taking me a while to come back. Every run for a while felt like trash, so I essentially had 2 weeks of very inconsistent running, but I'm finally back. I just caught up on 6 logs. None of them are great, but they're at least there. I promise I'll be upping my log game again soon, but it's definitely good to be back and feeling good again. l definitely learned a lesson (not a lesson from anyone on this log or anything.... trust me.... not gay man) that it's tough to log when things aren't going well and things are going for other. I got very demotivated from both the log and running, but like I said I'm back and slowly making my back into shape. I have a 10 miler on Saturday and still not sure if I'm gonna run it, but we'll see what happened.

Anyways, as for the run. I ran 8.2 mile down the Farakhan route early in the morning. My former high school coach contacted me a few weeks back, asking if I was coming back to New Buffalo anytime soon. Apparently, he has a new transfer kid who's running 55+ miles a week and in super good shape. He hadn't dropped any good times yet, but he really want to retain him and make sure he stays on the XC team. So, since I was finally home I ran with him.

I had a very good time running with him. Super good kid and I think he's going to throw down some good times this year. He's only a junior and has a goal of trying to run D1 in college, so I'll definitely be checking out his progress. He has 4 younger brothers that also are runners or soon-to-be-runners, so it's safe to say that New Buffalo Cross Country might not be as absolute trash as I thought it was going to be. With the slow demise of my former teammate, Parker Depalma, to drugs and shitty, small town high school farm parties, I had no hope. But this kid definitely gives me hope and, I can tell he loves the sport. Gotta respect that.

As for me, the run felt really good and it's longest I've gone in a while. Probably gonna keep it shorter tomorrow, but glad I'm not in as bad of shape as I thought.

Also happy official log birthday to my dude @Austin and congrats on beating teen pregnancy. Super proud.
