Like I Got Hit By A Truck

August 30, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Whole team ran to Fort Bayard where we did inadequate drills and then set off in groups. My group, lead by Ethan, was supposed to do 15 minutes of tempo which somehow in my mind I didn't think would be that hard. Boy do I have to erase that notion! I thought that at camp too; I don't know why I didn't learn from doing it a week ago that it's not easy. Even though I was alone for a good chunk of it and felt horrible, I'm still glad I did it and I'm not unhappy with the run as a whole under the circumstances. I was just having a bad day and I think that carried over into how I felt during the workout. I think I worked hard though and I feel tired now. I was conflicted during the run about how hard I should work because Anthony said to run the right pace even if I was alone, but Ethan urged me to catch up to Zach and run with him, and I also kept thinking about Matt's log from the other day when he said that "going fast with friends is easier than going slow on your own." I just tried not to think about pace and focused on holding on for 15 minutes. When the tempo was finished I cut back a bit early with Zach and Sophie because they were both feeling really bad and Ethan wanted me with them in case "shit hit the fan." :)
