The Nonsensical Tale of a Demotivated RVP

September 9, 2018 (Afternoon)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: 50s and rainy

Comments:
Ok, I've finally caught up with the logs. You can look back at them if you want, but honestly they're mostly pretty rushed.

But not gonna lie loggers, I've been having a hard time motivating myself for this cross country season. Even after being injured for a little bit, I could've easily came back by now, but i've been struggling to actually want to train. It's weird, usually when I get back to club for the season, I'm extremely motivated and nothing excites me more than running. However, here I am struggling to run more 25-30 miles a week. I've lost a good amount of fitness from dicking around so much and honestly I'm not confident that I could even be top 7 with all of our guys right now.

And it's also weird, because I'm not super upset about it. Despite not having good workout or being with the top group, I'm kind of just enjoying the club for what it is. I haven't stopped showing up to anything or tired of the club atmosphere, I think it's just actual training part. I enjoy running 8 min pace for 4 miles with some slow freshmen boys and Ryan Hunt. I'm enjoying going to the bars with a large RC crew and just skipping out on a run. Maybe it's just because I've mentally given up on the XC, but at least I'm still enjoying being on the club. I do hope that something sparks in me that makes me to do well in Cross Country again. Maybe I'll get my ass kicked so bad in Spartan Invite, I can reevaluate everything again. Maybe I'll remember my love for mid distance and use that to push me through the season. Or maybe I won't and I'll just go out every day and not care how I do. I don't really know yet, but it's definitely a different feeling. Not necessarily good or bad, but just a different feeling.

Anyways, sorry for the weirdly wordy log. I don't know if any of that made sense, but I guess that's better than my extremely half-assed logs. I mean man I haven't read a single log in like a month. I've been pretty swamped with club stuff, classes, and my 20 hour per week sales internship. So yeah life isn't bad, but its definitely busier than last year.

Ok nostagalic weird RVP, gtfo. I definitely did have a decent workout tonight. Not the fastest, but it shows I'm not in horrible shape. I ran a 4 mile tempo down a very dark Abbott trail. I think i could've gone a little faster, but the darkness has it's effect. I almost ran straight into some deer at one point and actually fell off the Abbott Trail on my cooldown. Almost went into the Riven. But yeah overall good workout.
