Ok, right now definitely not. But when I was in 4:24 mile shape, I could probably keep Kipchoge's marathon pace (42.2 KM) for 2KM. I mean I guess that's better than most people, but fuck that's still absolute ass!!!!! FUCCCCK
Today, I woke up around 7am to watch the Berlin Marathon. I avoided social media and simply turned on the race from start to finish. Unfortunately after the half way point, a tired RVP unintentionally scrolled through Twitter and saw Eliud Kipchoge did indeed break the world record. However, I did not how much. My initial prediction was 2:02:41 (one second off Bernard Lagat's prediction as it turns out lol) and after going through the half in 1:01:06, I thought there was no way he would negative split, especially by himself. But I underestimated a fucking legend. THE MARATHON GOAT. Because he slammed his dick on the table with the force of 1000 suns, negative splitted his marathon, and OBLITERATED THE WORLD RECORD. SHATTERED. GONE. 2:01:39. HOLY FUCK. The man straight up dicked on the previous world record and showed no mercy. NO LOVE LOST, NO LOVE FOUND. FUCK MAN. That was insane to watch and incredibly inspiring.
Luckily, I was planning on long running with Matt Ring anyway. I was bit tired, so I popped in a run gum and met him at IM West. We ended up running 10 miles through River Trail and around Hawk Island. Logan Coles also joined us for the first 3 miles. Despite being extremely inspired by the marathon, King Ring helped me hold back the pace and actually complete my first long run in a while. It was super chill time diving into the life of the King Ring himself and finding out how to get Red Cap Jack to admit if he's lying (DM separately for the truth lol).
I also felt really good for most of the run. We kept a solid, but not too fast pace and the heat didn't really get to me until the last mile. Definitely can't complain with this one. Glad to finally hit 40 miles per week again, and I'm planning on trying to get a long every week (11 miles is the goal next week). I can't guarantee i'll always wake up for long run, but I'll at least try to get out and do it.
