Went frolicking in the hills across the river this morning. The air was cool, the sun shining, the hills just called. I wound my way up a dirt road above the quarry to the top of the plateau, which was not nearly as flat as it had looked from the cliffs on the other side. In fact, it felt steep pretty much the whole way, but it was super satisfying to finally reach the top. There were a bunch of signs I didn't quite understand, but they seemed to be warnings against causing forest fires, was seemed pretty justified considering how little rain we've gotten. I also saw one sign referring to landmines, an important reminder to stick to the path. Thus, when the well-worn tire tracks gave way to an overgrown grassy footpath, I dared treck no further, even though there were no warning signs in that immediate area. The view looking down the cliffs into Vratnik neighborhood were spectacular. The it just felt so pure and refreshing to be out of the city.
On the way home I passed through an old stone gate and made my way up to the White Fortress, which unfortunately is a bit gross, covered in ugly graffiti. The neighborhood was really pretty though. On the whole, not a particularly fast run, but the 20-30 minutes or so of constant uphill gave me quite a solid workout.
