Evening Frolick

October 13, 2018 (Night)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Got back from our 7 hour hike and was so not in the mood to trudge up the steep half mile hill to my host family’s house that I’d go for a run instead. I realize this sounds completely illogical. Let’s just say it was the ultimate form of procrastination. Of course I knew I’d have to gain all that elevation eventually, running or walking, but my present self just couldn’t bear to face one more hill and so since I had yet to go for a run that day it felt like a legit excuse to put off the interminable ascent. I heard up Ambassadors Alley in the dark wearing the small track bag I’d worn on the day hike which bounced around a bit but which I quickly got used to. The night air was refreshing and the wood peaceful. Most of the run, I thought through how I would explain linear regression to a class with no stats experience. I realized later how much miss teaching - it really is such a fun intellectual challenge to figure out how to explain complex concepts in a way that’s easy to grasp. Finished by crossing the Goat Bridge, running out along the railroad tracks to the end of the pavement, and then coming back through the last neighborhood around the side of the mountain that I’d discovered 2 weeks back. By the end I was kinda sore but very satisfied. I love running!
