Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Was really excited for this race all week. Hadn't raced something this long since cross and so I couldn't wait. The goal was to break ten and to work with Steve. Just under 40's would do the trick. Maybe about six laps in, I lost contact with Steve. That was tough, and I felt really unfocused for a lot of the middle of the race. But, somehow, I stayed pretty consistent for each lap. As we approached 400 to go, I reeled in my focus and gradually turned off my brain, which had previously been full of thoughts. Going into the bell, I saw that the clock read 9:23. Instead of freaking out and thinking that it would be really hard to run a 37 final lap to even hit 10 flat, I stayed calm and just gave it my all. Somehow, I ran a 35 and went two seconds under 10. I don't think I've ever kicked an indoor race that strongly. It felt incredible–never felt that strong at the end of a race during winter. I'm sad that this is the end of my season, but I'm so excited for outdoor. Really grateful for all of the support I got during my race yesterday and I'm pumped to give it back to all the guys who are racing next weekend at conferences.
Side note: with 717.5 miles on them, I think it's time for some new shoes...
