"Day off"

March 4, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Felt pretty good after my 34-mile escapade, both yesterday and today. I ended up doing a good bit of walking around town and my legs were actually less sore than usual. However, I think sitting kinda did me in. Often I do work lying sideways on my bed but I chose to sit in a chair for several hours and afterward when I got up to go run I was more sore than I'd been all day.

The run started off fine. A little tight in a few places, but it was keeping the pace gentle and heading out on a gradual downhill. I originally planned to go only 3 miles as a shakeout but then decided to go for 5 since I was feeling fine. However, when I turned around at 2.5 to come back, even though the hill was gradual, I began to feel more fatigued. After 3.5 I caught myself slowing down precipitously several times and at 4.3 my hips suddenly started to exhibit the same soreness they had felt after 25 or so miles yesterday, so I decided that running any further would be counterproductive and chose to walk home instead.

I had planned to do a medium run the following day, but my foot had a slight ache both days and so I decided to be smart and give my body a true day off instead of pretended 3-5 miles was a "day off" as the title here implies.
