Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
The BAA schedule calls for a medium long run (MLR) or tempo on alternate weeks. An MLR is supposed to be around 10-12 miles, but that's actually been a normal-length run for me (if not shorter than average) for most of the past month. Still, since I'm cutting my mileage this week back to 60, a normal run should be 7.5 so I figured 11 miles ought to qualify as medium long. I was feeling pretty good on the way out on the Tranzit, but when I got to Grbavica and started to turn around toward home, I became frustrated with how slow Strava said my pace was and decided to make a concerted effort to pick it up. That soon evolved into a tempo, which I initially told myself I'd try to sustain for 3 miles, but 3 soon turned to 4 once I convinced myself to run up to the end of the Dariva pedestrian path. The last mile or two were pretty hard fought, in part because they were on a CCT-like uphill, but I went I looked at my app later I was thrilled. The last mile and half cooldown felt relaxed and triumphant and I even decided to jog all the way uphill back to my flat rather than walking and I'd planned. Opted to put off striders till tomorrow since I was cold and I didn't want to pull anything.
