Doing Saturday Things

April 6, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Comments:
Note to anyone who wants to create their own track meet: it's not easy! Maybe start smaller and increase the size over the years as you figure out what you're doing? Just a thought...

The meet was so incredibly disorganized, and was an hour behind pretty much immediately. We must have warmed up 4 times for the 4*8 as we waited to get checked in, get the hip number, let them switch the order of races...pretty ridiculous. I checked in to try to get the hip number so many times and the guy kept telling me not to worry, they were still only doing the A teams and then 3 minutes later he yelled at me for not having a number! It was all making me a bit anxious because I don't like not being able to plan the warmup right. Finally our race started though. It was Jenna to Madeleine to Leah to me. We were immediately pretty behind because all the other teams went out very fast and we'd been lapped by several of the teams by the time I got the baton. Had a few people who were a lap ahead of me in sight for my first lap, but ran the second with nobody on the track which is not the most fun. I think I did a pretty good job with it though. Ran really even laps (93 and 94 I think) and tied my time trial time from the end of winter (which felt really hard even when people were pacing me) even though I was totally alone. Also, had maybe my best kick ever? That may be due to not going out quite hard enough in the beginning and also to Matt yelling at me to start it, but I had a very solid 250 meter sprint at the end though I accidentally stopped a few steps short of the finish line because I couldn't tell where it was. Oops. Anyway, pretty happy with this race though I think (hope) I can do even better this season.

Spent the rest of the very very long day trying to find shade, cheering, watching pole vaulting (which is really beautiful when it's done right) with Matt, sneaking onto the infield, and unsuccessfully reading my senior paper book. Good day, but just too long. I don't care that much about missing the 4*4 specifically, but I kinda wish I could have done another event because spending all day there after running for 3 minutes is mentally challenging, but I still had fun and I'm glad we didn't have to stay until 9pm.
