Exercise Type: Run
Comments:
Having sufficiently calmed down from my storm of tears and emailed Veronica, I can log this race.
Was VERY excited to run a hard mile and test my fitness today with my teammates here to support me. The mile was hard, but not in a good way.
Wanted to warm up earlier because I had a nagging feeling the meet would run decently ahead of schedule, but told I was being paranoid (which to be fair, I probably was). Unfortunately, my suspicions were confirmed and we only had time for moving dynamics, a leg swing or two, and a strider to the line before we were called. Remind me next time to warm up properly.
In hindsight, the lack of a proper warm-up probably was a major factor in aggravating my knee/IT band region. :/. Had a good first lap, but coming around the first curve of the second lap I felt a fairly sharp pain in my right knee that made it really difficult to run, let alone run at the pace I wanted. The next three laps were me mentally thinking I was wimping out by not pushing myself to the level of excruciating pain aerobically because my knee literally would not allow it. I didn't think I would finish on the third lap. Thankfully, I did.
Logging @ 8:30 after two periods of icing and a very long stretch, it feels better. Hopefully, I'll be able to x-train tomorrow and run on Saturday. Keeping my fingers crossed for a good season, but part of
me just reaaally wishes it was last year when I was fit and happy and running much faster times.... ://///
This was a lot angstier than I thought it would be. Sorry to everyone who got through it (and s/o to amazing first races and PRs (and almost-PRs!!) to everyone else in the girls mile!!)
