I love coaching track workouts where I get to run with one of the groups. I really is one of the highlights of coaching for me. Imagine a meet where instead of cheering once a mile or once a lap you're cheering throughout the entire race! Plus I get the chance to give individualized attention to everyone in my group and watch their progress, their improvements, struggles, and confidence. It's really the best. Plus, I get a nice run in myself and I get to feel like I'm a part of what everyone's going through. The camaraderie of going through a track workout with a group of teammates is one of my favorite memories of all of high school.
Ran w/ Ella, Abby, Maddi, Camilla, and Sophie Axelrod, plus a few others who joined in with our group for one or two laps (Amanda M., Leah Belber, Caleb, Evan, Arthur). We did 10x200 (most of us), plus a bonus 200 that I persuaded to Maddi to take on and which Abby nobly volunteered to join in for.
Also tried out a new pair of Adidas running shoes. My club required us to wear Adidas for all practices and races, since they're our club's sponsor, even though I still pay $75/year in membership dues and $200 for the Boston Marathon. Ridiculous. None of their shoes have ever been a great match for my feet, but after several hours of reading online reviews, calling shoe stores, placing orders on Amazon, and trying to shoes at Pacer's shoe store in Virginia, I finally settled on a pair I think will work for me. I never like to change anything up so close to a marathon, but I'm out of options here. Hopefully these Solar Rides will work out.
