Got up at 3 am to fly to Manchester to run this race and I'm very glad I did! Ran the first leg. Order was me to Sophie to Mia to Jenna.This was a kerfuffle about getting the numbers/whether we were registered that was confusing and stressful. When we were on the ilne the started asked/told Maddi and I why the first and second runners from our team were on the track... obviously that wasn't the case and I was getting kind of frustrated because I REALLY wanted to race and I thought he was going to kick me out of the race. It's definitely better to warm up too early than too late though so.
Thankfully, we got a good warm up in, my knee feels fine, I ran faster than I did on Tuesday, and I'm excited for the rest of the season.
The team looked strong today (s/o to Maddi for AN AMAZING PR, Ana-Sophia for a great race and others that I didn't get to see.
Splits were: 89, 101, 110, 111 so huge positive split yikes.
First lap - I definitely went out too fast, but it was a good experience when I tried to push and come back from it. Went out with the pack and realized I went out too fast about 300m in.I realized how bad i felt about right then.
Second - Lost contact with the pack and tried to reel myself in to the girl who was directly in front of me. I was feeling the effects of this fast first lap and probably should have surged to get to the girl in front of me.
Third - Lost the girl directly in front of me and kind of lost my focus. I want to work on it especially after the fast first lap.
Fourth - It was hard for me to get the mental energy to kick strongly. I also felt physically difficult to kick and I lost the adrenaline that will work. I want to work on getting the energy to kick even when I'm super tired.

I'm having trouble with putting myself in more pain, and I felt somewhat too comfortable at certain sections of the race but that will come in time and more workouts.
I really enjoyed coming back to racing, and know what I need to work on in my racing to make it even better. Feel pretty good even though it was off my PR!!!
