This is who you think you are

April 23, 2019 (Morning)

Exercise Type: Run

Weather: HOT

Comments:
Last St Albans meet ever and very bittersweet! I, again, thought I would be running the 8 so I was very surprised when I was in the mile but tried to make the most out of it. I was worried about my fitness given lack of speedwork but it was fine.
Ran over with Jenna and talked about this weekend and got jijtters out.
I'm pretty happy with this race and with my fitness right now, but I know that there's more to come with more workouts and I'm really happy my IT band is holding up. I think I raced it pretty well (pacing, pushing on the third lap) even if I'm not satisfied with the time.
It feels like this was the first time I actually passed people racing (even though I definitely have) and that made me happy!
Ok actual race. We warmed up too late (lol sensing a trend) and only got to do 2 striders (to check in and then to the line), great. Almost didn't get my uniform and spikes on in time. I did a strider from the line and then off we were.
I thought the gun pace was super fast and uncomfy and so I tried to pack up with Sophie, Madeleine and an NCS girl named Luxmi I think? and let Lucia and Hannah go off. In hindsight, I should have trusted myself and my fitness more and tried to use Lucia more in the first couple of laps. First lap felt super weird but I'm glad I had my freshman hoppers there to push me thru !!! (1:36 which is good first lap shoulda kept that pace)
Second lap I tried to move up and get to Hannah because I know she has really good pacing (and had her watch on her) and NCS girl followed. I realized I had quite a bit of energy but wanted to keep the second lap controlled. (1:42, 3:18)
Third lap I tried to surge and pretend like it was the last lap but I was probably actually going slower. Got up to Hannah on the back straight, shook off the NCS girl and encouraged her to come with me. Was able to mutter some words so want to do that a little harder.
Fourth lap I thought I was kicking, but really not. I really only started my kick around ~50m before the end which could have been 200m of all-out sprinting. (?, 6:43)
Cooled down, took forever to stretch, and saw some great races (s/o to Abby's 32!). I love this team #snrszn
Excited for a hard workout tomorrow to sink my teeth into (hint hint Anthony)
